Missing in Action on 17th April 1943 as co-pilot of B-17F / #42-3034 / BO-'U' / 'Bodacious Critter' / MACR 15456.
Target: Bremen, Germany. #42-3034 was the leading aircraft of the High Squadron. Attacked by fighters after leaving the target area this aircraft was lost in the sea north of Bremen. 10 MIA.

Missing in Action 19th September 1944 as pilot of P-51D / #44-13518 / B6-'D' / 'Horses Itch' / MACR 8796.
Sortie: area support in the Arnhem area during Operation Market Garden. Shot down in a dogfight with enemy aircraft east of Arnhem. Crashed near Vreden / Ahaus District, Germany.
Initially buried (badly burned and unidentified) in grave #11 at the Catholic Cemetery at Vreden, it seems that somehow his remains were unaccounted for.Therefore, Major Hiro is commemorated on the Margraten Cemetery Walls of the Missing.

From Fellows, California.
Missing in Action 11th April 1944 as pilot of P-51B / #43-12122 / G4-'M' / MACR 3732.
Sortie: a bomber support mission to Germany. Engaged in aerila combat with FW-190's this aircraft was last seen 20 miles north of Magdeburg, Germany. Crashed in marshy grounds near Hohenwarthe, 7 miles north-north-east of Magdeburg.
Captain Lingo is commemorated on the Margraten Cemetery Walls of the Missing.

From Front Royal, Virginia.
Killed in Action 22nd April 1944 as pilot of B-24H / #41-29273 / J4-'Q' / 'Flak Magnet' / MACR 4180.
Target: Hamm, Germany. Hit by flak south-west of Hamm this aircraft became a straggler and was shot down by Major Heinz Baer of II/JG1. The pilot ordered the crew to bale out. Crashed north-east of Hoetmar, 13 miles east-south-east of Muenster, killing the pilot. 1 KIA / 9 POW.
1Lt Spaven is buried at Margraten Cemetery, D-12-12.

From Jefferson, Iowa.
Killed in action 4th March 1944 as pilot of P-47 / #42-75850 / YJ-? / MACR 2793.
Sortie: bomber escort to Berlin, Germany. Recalled due to weather conditions. Believed to have suffered loss of oxygen the pilot did not answer any radio calls and eventually crashed near Nassonge, Belgium.
1Lt Burkett is buried at Ardennes Cemetery, D-5-10.

From Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Killed in action 1st August 1943 as pilot of B-24B / #41-11819 / 'Raunchy' / MACR 169.
Target: the Ploesti oil refineries in Romania. Shot down by anti-aircraft artillery hit the ground immediately after leaving the target area. 10 KIA. 1Lt Neeley is buried at Ardennes Cemetery, A-39-43.
