13th April 1945. A flying nurse and her flight crew crash in bad weather near Hildesheim, Germany.   

1st May 1945. An American Red Cross 'Doughnut Dolly' is killed during a pleasure flight.

4th July 1942. "US Army Air Force Touches Off July Fourth 'Fireworks' in Europe".

While researching Class Books sometimes familiar faces are found. Below please find a small collection of these faces.

17th May 1943. Disastrous low level raid on IJmuiden. 10 out of 11 aircraft do not return to base. 

4th May 1942. A USAAF Liaison Officer is killed while flying with a British Royal Air Force Coastal Command unit.

In February 2023 the USAAF Class Book Project contributed the 2000th photograph to the Fields of Honor Database.

At about 15 minutes into the famous 1944 William Wyler’s Memphis Belle documentary film there are some close-ups of the nose art of other B-17s. One of these is B-17F 42-29727 "In Der Fuehrer's Face". At around the time that the Memphis Belle was completing its 25th and final mission, "In Der Fuehrer's Face" was about to take off on its third. Its comical nose art, undoubtedly derived from this Disney cartoon is in stark contrast with the fate of its crew.
